Deconstructing Elitism Series (2011)

These paintings are square canvases divided into 9 squares each. Each square is assigned a different color, 3 primary (red, blue and yellow) ,3 secondary colors(green, orange and purple) and black, white, and grey. They also have no designated top or bottom.

Scientific research has discovered that the brain processes visual imagery with 3 clearly different parts of the brain. One part processes vertical lines another horizontal and another color and the brain generally fills in the other information. These works are trying to exploit this phenomena by exclusively playing to only those 3 parts of the brain. Vertical lines, horizontal lines and color in pursuit of a purely non-objective experience.
